In an effort to lessen the environmental impact of the summer tour and inspire fans to take action for people and the environment, Dead & Company and Activist will continue to collaborate with longtime sustainability partner REVERB. REVERB.org has more information.

The Grateful Dead’s Mickey Hart, Bill Kreutzmann, and Bob Weir teamed up with musician and artist John Mayer, bassist for the Allman Brothers Oteil Burbridge, and keyboardist for Fare Thee Well and RatDog Jeff Chimenti to form Dead & Company in 2015. The group quickly rose to the top of the list of touring acts each year. Since its inception, the group has finished seven tours and established a concert attendance record at Wrigley Field for a single performance that is still in effect today. Since making its debut in 2015, the band has performed 164 shows, 143 original songs, and in front of almost four million spectators.

Fenway Park, Citi Field, Gillette Stadium, Folsom Field, Dodger Stadium, Wrigley Field, and Autzen Stadium are just a few of the famous stadiums across the nation where Dead & Company has performed as the headlining act. They also frequently make appearances at Madison Square Garden, the Forum, Hollywood Bowl, and Shoreline Amphitheatre. Between their tours, Dead & Company organizes “Playing in the Sand,” an annual all-inclusive concert vacation that includes many performances by the band on a small Mexican beach.

The Dead & Company community has supported numerous local non-profits and national social impact groups and causes with more than 100,000 actions during all of the band’s tours at Participation Row, including voter registration with HeadCount and environmental activities with REVERB.

Since 2015, efforts on tour have reduced the use of 100,000 single-use plastic water bottles at performances and raised money for projects that promote climate justice and reduce carbon emissions. Preventing the emission of 33,700 tonnes of CO2e, or the equivalent of 83.5 million miles of gas-powered car travel.
