Our pedal of the day is the compact version of Electro-Harmonix’s legendary Micro Q-Tron pedal, the Electro-Harmonix Nano Q-Tron. It is best known for its organic, analog sound and expressivity.
Envelope controlled filter is a form of effect that goes beyond the mainstream, but is equally at home in a wide range of genres. It works really well and effective on guitar, bass, keys, and many other instruments.
Since the 1970s, Electro-Harmonix has been creating envelope filter pedals, making them one of the first to a pioneer this effect! The Electro-Harmonix Nano Q-Tron is based on that rich history.
The Nano Q-Tron adapts to the user’s playing dynamics and style. The cutoff or center frequency of a sweeping filter is controlled by the volume of the input signal it receives (also known as the envelope). This enables the Nano Q-Tron to provide a wide range of tone-altering effects, from subtle to dynamic, auto-wah to ultra-funky. It all depends on how you play, and it’s really interactive.
Characteristics of the Nano Q-Tron
- The Vol (Volume) knob regulates the output volume of the pedal.
- Drive Control changes the sensitivity of the filter sweep and how the pedal reacts to the user’s playing dynamics.
- Q Control determines the filter’s peak bandwidth and how subtle or dramatic the effect will be.
- Low pass accentuates the lows, band pass stresses the midsection, and high pass concentrates the highs.
- It is pedalboard friendly, compact, and durable.
- It includes a 9V battery and can also be powered by an external 9V power supply.
