The sleek alder body form is reminiscent of the first Charvel San Dimas basses from the late 1970s. The deeper cutaway provides bass players easy access to the higher register. The original Charvel fast neck is made of super-thin bolt-on maple with a beautiful caramelized finish, graphite reinforcement, and a heel-mount truss rod wheel for easy adjustment. The rolled edges, 20 jumbo frets, and Luminlay side dots on the 12″-16″ compound radius caramelized maple fingerboard gradually flatten from nut to heel for rapid, smooth playing.
The Charvel Pro-Mod San Dimas Bass JJ V, like the originals, has DiMarzio pickups with a powerful tone. The bridge Area JTM DP551 pickup and the middle Area J DP550 pickup work together to provide a well-balanced tone with warmth, sustain, and clarity. Three-band active EQ, pickup blend control, and a master volume control with push/pull selection are among the electronics. A short pull on the volume knob bypasses the EQ’s active circuit and restores sound from the bass without the need for battery power, thus the push/pull selector removes the possibility of losing sound due to a dead battery.
The combination of a Charvel HiMassTM bridge, Graph Tech TUSQ XL nut, and open-gear tuners provides excellent tuning stability as well as greater note punch and sustain.
With gold hardware, cream pickup covers, and a licensed Fender Precision Bass headstock shape, this 5-string bass comes in electrifying Lambo Green Metallic and Candy Apple Red finishes.
