Metallica has returned: In addition to sharing a new song titled “Lux Æterna,” they have also announced a new album and a massive tour for 2023. The album 72 Seasons, which Greg Fidelman, James Hetfield, and Lars Ulrich produced, will be released on April 14 next year. Their huge tour will begin in Europe in April with North American performances later in the year.

Every location gets visited twice during the tour, and the band guarantees that each show will have a completely different setlist and supporting cast.

In 2024, more stints are planned for Europe and America. View the tour schedul, and the “Lux Æterna” music video, which was directed by Tim Saccenti, below.

It has been more than six years since we got a brand new Metallica album. In the years since, they have reissued some classic albums, released a second live album with the San Francisco Symphony, commissioned a covers album with artists like Phoebe Bridgers and Kamasi Washington, and entered the Billboard songs chart with “Master of Puppets” after it received significant airplay on the Stranger Things television series.
