For 2023 new Epiphone products include the re-introduced Newport Bass and the El Capitan J-200 Studio Bass.

Newport Bass

Firstly, the Newport Bass pays homage to a classic Epiphone design that debuted in 1961, delivering several modifications that the firm says “fit the needs of today’s bass players.”

A medium C neck profile, 30.5″ scale length, 20-fret Indian Laurel fingerboard, and symmetrical mahogany double-cutaway body provide unrestricted access to the higher frets.

“Rich, deep tones” are provided by the Epiphone Sidewinder pickup in the neck position, while “brighter timbres” are supplied by a TB PRO pickup in the bridge position.

For further tonal variety, these are controlled by master volume and tone pots, as well as a blend knob.

The Newport Bass costs $379 and comes in four colorways: Classic Cherry, California Coral, Sunset Yellow, and Pacific Blue.

El Capitan J-200 Studio Bass

The El Capitan J-200 Studio Bass, which takes stylistic inspiration from the iconic Gibson SJ-200 acoustic guitar, is a welcome addition to Epiphone’s acoustic bass portfolio.

A 20-fret Indian laurel fingerboard with pearloid crown inlays and the trademark Moustache bridge are among the features, including a solid Sitka spruce top, multilayer mahogany back and sides, mahogany neck, 30.5″ scale length, and a medium C profile.
