The Troy Sanders Precision Bass is the second collaboration between Fender and Mastodon’s visionary singer, composer, and bassist. The Precision Bass has set the standard for electric bass for decades, with its strong tone practically synonymous with the sound of an electric bass. The union of these two monolithic powers is a reason for excitement among metal enthusiasts and musicians everywhere.

Sanders’ bass playing may be heard on the discographies of numerous bands, including supergroup Killer Be Killed, and on live as a touring member of Thin Lizzy, the iconic classic rock outfit. Mastodon, the band that evolved after Sander made friends with a few like-minded metal fan buddies after a gig, is the best example of Sander’s abilities as a musician. Mastodon is now one of the leading innovators and trendsetters in rock music, two decades and one Grammy award win later. Much of their popularity may be credited to the band’s massive sound, with Sanders’ bass playing providing the foundation.

“My signature Precision Bass is beyond anything I could’ve dreamed; every time I see it, I am humbled and grounded,” Troy Sanders remarked. “Interesting fact, the Silverburst color became my favorite since both Mastodon guitarists have been rocking them from day one. During our formative years, they planned for me to have one so we could sing Silverburst together on stage! The worker bee image on the back collar plate, inspired by Mastodon’s “Remission” album, is my favorite element because it represents our work ethic and dedication. I can’t wait for shredders worldwide to get their hands on this Precision Bass!”

While Mastodon has used its 22 years of touring and recording skills to create an original and timeless sound, this bass allows inexperienced musicians to tune in their desired tones. The Troy Sanders P Bass makes light work of even the most perplexing basslines thanks to a large yet comfortable “C” shape neck with a 9.5″ fingerboard. While it’s a dream to play, this instrument has a tremendous bottom end that oozes horrific cruelty.

The headstock has a matching Silverburst color with a ’70s-style Fender logo on the front and Sanders’ signature decal on the back. The neck plate features a Mastodon “Remission” logo, and the inlays include a bespoke “Emperor of Sand” emblem at the 12th fret. The distinctive Troy Sanders pickups and the custom-voiced 18V preamp ensure you always have access to a vast library of powerful tones.

The Troy Sanders Signature Precision Bass features Tim Shaw-designed Precision Bass and single-coil jazz bass pickups, a custom-voiced 18V preamp, and a Fender HiMassTM vintage bridge. Additional highlights include an alder body with a stunning Silverburst finish, a distinguishing chromed control plate, a maple neck with a special ’70s P-Bass “C” shape, and a 9.5″-radius slab rosewood fingerboard paired with pearloid block inlays and 20 medium jumbo frets. It features Sanders’ signature decal on the back of the headstock. The neck plate features a Mastodon “Remission” emblem, and inlays include a bespoke “Emperor of Sand” logo at the 12th fret. With razor-sharp focus and titanic might, The Fender Troy Sanders Signature Precision Bass puts Mastodon’s crushing strength and trademark sonic mayhem at your fingertips.
