Currently, NOFX have chosen the song for their future Double Album, which is due out in early December 2. Following reports of the band’s farewell tour slated for 2023, which will also mark their 40th anniversary. The new NOFX Double Album might be their last ever.
Listen to the song below.
In an interview, Fat Mike discusses the origin of the song and says, “I said ‘Hey, check this out. I believe this would be a terrific Blink-182 song,” as he played the song to Matt Skiba.
Punk Rock Cliché was supposed to be California’s lead single, however it was quickly taken off of the album. Mike reflects on his initial reaction after learning of this: “At first, it felt really, really horrible for me. I was devastated because I had high expectations and truly enjoyed the song.”
Fat Mike comments on the new album: “Because it’s challenging and there aren’t many really fantastic double albums out there, I wanted to create one. Although I recorded all of these songs in the same month, it took me two years to complete the second album. It’s a great record, and possibly our funniest one, in my opinion. I believe it will satisfy many of our supporters. I believe side three and side four would make a fantastic double album. Making a strong double-album was something I set out to do, and I think I succeeded—it simply took much longer than I anticipated.
