Introducing the Aurelius: A Versatile Chorus Pedal from EarthQuaker Devices
This digital instrument was painstakingly adjusted and perfected to give you an all-encompassing chorus and vibrato experience unlike anything else. The 1970s CE-1 Chorus Ensemble pedal inspired it. To bravely replicate the sound of the Leslie speaker’s spinning baffle mechanism for the Rotary Mode, EQD Founder Jamie Stillman went back to the 1940s and the invention of the Leslie speaker. He replicated the phasing and speeds of the low-frequency oscillator, amplifying them to make it suited for guitar and bass. He analyzed how the horn and rotor moved on Leslie speakers.
The Aurelius has an expression control feature, enabling you to utilize any TRS expression pedal to modify the Width, Rate, or Balance. In Vibrato Mode, you can effortlessly switch back and forth between a subtle chorus with a seasick vibrato, but this is just one of the many modes the pedal offers. The possibilities for customization are infinite.
Each Aurelius is meticulously handcrafted in Akron, Ohio, and is inspected by the spirit of the renowned speaker inventor, Donald Leslie.
Features and Modes of the Aurelius Chorus Pedal
The pedal is a three-voice chorus that allows you to save and recall six presets.
Vibrato Mode produces a chorus-type effect that leans toward vibrato, utilizing a triangle LFO to modulate a short delay line.
Chorus Mode combines chorus and flanger, generating a warmer tone with slower rates than Vibrato Mode and a sine wave LFO to modulate the delay line.
Rotary Mode is a rotary chorus effect that replicates the sound of a Leslie speaker cabinet.
The pedal also comes with a user-assignable expression control.
The color of the Save switch indicates two global operating modes: Green means Live Mode and Red means Preset Mode.
The 1970s CE-1 Chorus Ensemble pedal inspires the pedal, featuring true bypass and silent relay-based switching with Flexi-Switch® Technology.
The Aurelius comes with a lifetime warranty, and it has a current draw of 75 mA.
The input impedance is 500 kΩ, while the output impedance is 100 Ω.
The list price for the pedal is $199.
